A Great Weekend in Hartsburg!
It was a great weekend in Hartsburg, with neighbors coming together, projects moving forward, and some exciting improvements taking shape around our Village.
From freshening up our fire hydrants to improving safety along Front Street and putting the finishing touches on the Park, it was one of those weekends that reminds us just how much can be accomplished in a small community.
Neighbors Lending a Hand
This weekend, 24 volunteers, including seven kids, came out to help paint fire hydrants throughout the Village.
A big thank you to everyone who helped organize the event, help prep the hydrants, and every volunteer who grabbed a brush and helped bring a fresh new look to Hartsburg.
A very special thank you goes to Orvil Township for generously funding the paint and supplies for the project. Their support made this community project possible.
From the planning and prep work to the painting itself, everyone played a part—and the results look great!
When we all come together, the Village of Hartsburg thrives!
A Safer Front Street
We also saw another important improvement this weekend with the addition of a new crosswalks and stop bars on Front Street in front of the school.
This project was made possible through an AARP Community Challenge Grant received by the Village for pedestrian and traffic safety improvements.
We know speeding along Front Street continues to be a concern. While these improvements won’t solve the issue entirely, they are another step toward increasing driver awareness and making the area around our school safer.
Park Update — Almost There!
We’re working through the final touches at the Park!
The pickleball court has been painted, and we’re now giving the surface time to properly cure.
The new pickleball net was generously donated in memory of Jon & Mary Lou Wibben, who would have loved sitting on their deck and watching people enjoy the court. It’s a special way to honor their memory while adding something our community can enjoy for years to come.
Next up, we’ll be installing our new shade structure, giving residents a comfortable place to sit, visit and enjoy the park.
Little by little, it’s all coming together!
And We’re Not Done Yet…
There’s more happening as we head into fall!
Be on the lookout for information about our October Town-Wide Clean Up Event.
There is still plenty of work ahead, but it’s exciting to see the progress happening throughout Hartsburg.
And more to come!
With gratitude,
Darien Ritterbush
