Why Ordinances Matter
Village ordinances help protect the safety, health, and quality of life for everyone in Hartsburg. They provide clear guidelines for property upkeep, public behavior, and community development, ensuring that our small town remains a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for place to live. By following and enforcing these local laws, we preserve the charm and integrity of our community for future generations.
Current Ordinances
Ordinance No. 1993-0501 / Prohibiting Animal Nuisance
This ordinance helps keep Hartsburg a peaceful and enjoyable place for everyone by encouraging responsible pet ownership. It sets some simple expectations to prevent animals from causing damage, making excessive noise, or creating unsafe situations around town. It's all about being a good neighbor and looking out for one another.
Ordinance No. 2003-0331 / Lawn Grass Height
Tall grass might seem harmless, but it can attract pests and hurt the look of our community. This ordinance encourages residents to take care of their lawns by keeping grass under six inches high. It’s a small way we all pitch in to help Hartsburg stay healthy, tidy, and neighborly.
Ordinance No. 2015-0518 / Storage of Junk and Inoperable Items
This ordinance helps keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming by setting simple standards for what can be stored outside in residential areas. It covers things like junk, building materials, inoperable vehicles, and appliances. By following these guidelines, we all help maintain the pride and beauty of our village.
