💧 Now Hiring: Part-Time Water Clerk, Village of Hartsburg, Illinois

The Village of Hartsburg is seeking a reliable, organized, and community-focused individual to serve as our Part-Time Water Clerk.

This position manages water billing and customer accounts, including new account setup, water turn-ons, disconnections, and reconnections, in accordance with village ordinances and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and send monthly water bills (Apply late fees and issue notices as authorized by ordinance)
• Process payments and maintain accurate account records
• Set up new water accounts
• Coordinate water service turn-ons, shut-offs, and reconnections
• Respond to resident questions professionally and courteously
• Assist with reporting, audits, and recordkeeping

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Basic computer and spreadsheet skills
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

*Municipal or billing experience is helpful but not required — training will be provided.

Position Details

• Part-time, Compensation: $400 per month

Employment Conditions

• Applicant must maintain any Village water account in good standing
• Drug-free workplace

Note: “Good standing” means no delinquent balances, shut-off status, or unresolved payment arrangements beyond those permitted by ordinance.
